Coach Trip to Leonardslee Gardens

Sunday 28th April 2019

An opportunity to visit the 240 acres of newly opened and restored gardens and lakes at Lower Bleeding, near Horsham in West Sussex.

The beautiful landscaped Grade I listed gardens were first planted in 1801. They have been described as "the finest woodland gardens in England".

Restoration began when the present owner, Penny Streeter OBE, acquired the estate in 2017. Penny and her team are dedicated to restoring, maintaining and further improving the gardens and buildings, so that the public can once again experience their beauty and special qualities. At the time of our visit we may experience  the outstanding spring displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias and bluebells. Popular walking trails enable visitors to discover the historic beauty of the restored estate.

Visitors can explore a wide range of features including the elegant 19th-century Italianate-style Mansion House, listed Grade II for architectural merit, the unique dolls’ house exhibition - and the rare colony of wallabies, wildfowl and huge carp in the seven ponds.

There are also wide selections of refreshments available from the  new restaurants and tea rooms. High-end dining and afternoon teas are served in the Leonardslee House and casual fare is served in the Clock Tower Café, Courtyard Café and other food stations throughout the gardens. Please Note Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens is a cash free zone. Payment is by card only. https://www.leonardsleegardens.co.uk/visitor-information
