NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME
IN HAMPSHIRE: Open Gardens in September. (Plus a Surprise Pop-Up August
opening)
We have exciting news this
month - one of our Hampshire Gardens has been shortlisted in The
Nations Favourite Garden competition. This competition is a joint
collaboration with The Country Gardener, Viking Cruises and The National Garden
Scheme. By voting you could win a fantastic River Danube Cruise, courtesy
of Viking Cruises - so you really have nothing to loose.
LITTLE COURT in Crawley
is in the top 5 for the South East Region. Patricia Elkington has been
opening her garden for the NGS for many years, and both her, and clearly, her
garden are very popular.
Patricia has decided to
open again as a ‘ Pop Up’ garden on Sunday 18th August. So why not check
it out and see it in its early Autumn dress.
LITTLE COURT Crawley Winchester SO21 2PU
A three acre garden which
aims to give continuous calm enjoyment throughout the seasons - opening in
February with thousands of crocus and snowdrops - and ending in June with full
herbaceous borders. Now as a one off Little Court is
opening once again. This is a garden which appeals to all ages, with the tree
house and the free range bantams wandering around, which the children love, and
for the adults there is a quiet and tranquil atmosphere, with many places to sit
with great views. The South facing wildlife field is a magnet for
butterflies.
Pop Up opening: Sunday

developed over 45 yrs into a profusely planted, contemporary cottage garden in
peaceful surroundings. There is a constantly changing display in pots, starting
with tulips and continuing with many unusual plants.

Spectacular riverside
garden with sweeping lawn backed by old walls, yew buttresses and mixed
perennial beds. Contemporary vegetable garden at its height in Sept. Also incl
contemporary garden around pool area, bog garden and wilder walkways through
wooded areas. Children welcome.

REDENHAM PARK HOUSE Andover
SP11 9AQ
Redenham Park built in
1784. The garden sits behind the house (not open). The formal rose garden is
planted with white flowered roses. Steps lead up to the main herbaceous borders
which peak in late summer. A calm green interlude, a gate opens into gardens
with espaliered pears, apples, mass of scented roses, shrubs and perennial
planting surrounds the swimming pool.

On the Upper Test with
water meadows and wooded valleys, this garden offers herbaceous borders, bog and
Mediterranean plants, as well as a replanted orchard and two small arboretums.
Features Japanese prunus, peonies, wisteria, irises, roses, and semi-tropical
planting. The working mill was where Portals first made paper for the Bank of
England in 1716.
