FW: IDHS January 2021 Newsletter

Subject: IDHS January 2021 Newsletter

Firstly a Happy New Year to all of you in what continues to be strange times. However there is light at the end of the tunnel with the Covid vaccine being rolled out.

Having said that, we have no idea when we will be able to meet up as a club but your committee is continuing to plan ahead. Over the next few months we will have to make some difficult decisions about the plant sale and Annual Show as both of these take some planning. It is fair to say that if they do happen, they may look very different from previous years as we strive to keep you all safe.

In the hope that we do have a plant sale in May, can I remind you to save some specimens when splitting plants or sow a few extra seeds if you can.

Whilst we have no meeting in January, we are planning to host a Zoom presentation on Thursday 25th February at 7.30 pm by Ray Broughton who will deliver a shortened talk on “What Show Judges Look For”. The link will be available in the next newsletter and even if you don’t like using the computer you can dial in and listen to the talk. Those details will also be included.

Should the current rules change (unlikely) and you are able to have people in your home, you might like to think about members joining up and watching the presentation.

Hopefully you all enjoyed completing Rays anagrams and Pats quiz and both sets of answers are attached.

I have been asked to remind you of a few things:

New Forest snapshot survey to shape the next Partnership Plan for the NF National Park for the next five years. It takes around 5 minutes to complete and closes midnight on Friday 22nd January (next week)

Please click on the link to access the survey

The Hardy Plant Society (Hampshire Group) have sent us details of their Winter – Spring programme of Zoom talks  which are open to interested parties. Full details of talks, cost and how to apply are on their website

If you have unwanted laptops, tablets that you are willing to have donated to a local school  and can take them to an address in Ringwood where they will be expertly wiped and reset up, please contact RB computer Services UK through their facebook page by sending a message

I hope you all did well in the quizzes and in the meantime please stay safe and well
