National Garden Scheme in Hampshire May/June 2021

IN HAMPSHIRE
I’m sure many of you were/are thinking the same as me,  when are these early morning frosts going to stop.   I certainly can’t remember an April with  such a prolonged period of frosts.  It amazes me how tolerant some of the plants are - apart from my ‘Alstroemeria Indian Summer”  that has really curled its toes up.  Still we are all in the same boat.
Undeterred, our gardeners are still toiling away to bring you some stunning gardens.  Below are a few gardens, which are open from 17th May and into June.

Maple Cottage is reopening after a 2 yr break, a ½ acre cottage style garden with herbaceous borders, veg plots and a tiny, but very active wildlife pond surrounded by hostas, astilbe, sarracenia and a quirky tree cave for kids. The neighbouring 1 acre contemporary garden at Cherry Tree Barn is just 2 yrs old and is the realisation of the owner’s ideas working with garden designer Fiona Harrison. The area around the thatched barn has been planted with grasses, iris, salvia, euphorbia, phlomis and knautia. Drifts of oxeye daisies and other wildflowers on bunds line the perimeter. Hard landscaping incl terracing, decking, pathways and Japanese influenced Yatsuhashi Bridge through the main border. Small collection of sculptures completes the piece. The tiny garden at Cherry Tree Barn Cottage is full of lovingly attended, colourful pots.
Opening:  Thurs 27th to Sun 30th May   2pm to 5pm
Admission:  £6.50  children free
Refreshments:  Home-made teas.
